今回先生方は、中等科1年生がバザー準備として手作りのクリスマスカードを作成する作業のお手伝いをしてくださいました。その時の感想を先生が書いてくださいましたので、掲載いたします。
Christmas cards with the first years
As the cold air comes in and the leaves start to fall, the school grounds are looking beautiful in an array of every shade of red and orange you can think of. It’s that time of year again, a time when we all start layering up and reminisce on glorious summer days. One thing I don’t miss about England is how wet the winters are, it seems to rain almost everyday! But here in Tokyo, the sun is shining and the rays feel like they are embracing me before real cold weather rolls in.
After St. Hilda’s festival, the school is still buzzing, alive with energy for the next festivity, the Bazaar. I’m very much looking forward to the Bazaar as it’s a time just before Christmas that feels in touch with the Christmas spirit of giving. I am excited to see all of the innovative and cute creations the students conjure up this year.
Miss Ngo and I attended the first year classrooms where students were eagerly working on their christmas cards. All the students are making them from scratch and putting to good use their art lessons. Many of them were cutting out trees or a santa in felt and glueing ribbons on for an elegant touch. We worked our way from classroom to classroom, each all filled with smiling faces and talked to the girls about Christmas.
It was such a delightful day and we cannot wait to see the final products. At St. Hilda’s we are all excited for the Bazaar and we are looking forward to seeing many people on the day. It is sure to be a great day filled with joy.
