Our First Spring in Japan
It is Ms Ngo and Ms Kirby’s first Spring time in Japan. It was exciting to see the trees slowly bloom and become full of beautiful pink and white cherry blossoms. Japan is famous overseas for it’s cherry blossom season. So, we were very excited during the days when the blossom had just started to bloom.
Ms Kirby: Despite the crowds of tourists and locals, all trying to get a glimpse of the sakura and get a photo worthy of instagram, I still found Naka-Meguro absolutely breathtaking. Especially as dusk slowly turned to night and we were greeted with delicately lit lanterns dotted along the riverside. I think I almost took 100 photos of just Naka-Meguro and I was so excited and in awe of the river lined with sakura that I walked to the next station. I can safely say that spring has exceeded my expectations as the cherry blossoms turned Tokyo into a beautiful garden. But now as the petals gently fall in the wind like snow, we can look forward to warmer weather and a splash of colour as spring has finally come.
Ms Ngo: In February I went to Atami and Kawazu to see the early blooming cherry blossoms, it was so beautiful. I really enjoyed my time there and took many photos. During the Spring break, I went to Yoyogi park and had a picnic under the cherry blossom trees with my friends. It was a lot of fun to play games and enjoy our time in the sun surrounded by the trees.
The petals are now starting to fall from the trees so the cherry blossom season may soon be over. However, we are very happy that we have travelled around and experienced Japan during such an amazing time and we still get to see the spectacular view of the trees in St.Hilda’s garden every morning.
